Betta Fish: Male or female?

I’m happy to report the swim boy and see issues are fully resolved… Guessing it was just poor water quality.

What are your thoughts on this? Doing research on half moon king male betta… the pictures that come up don’t look like my fish. Is this a female? It looks so miserable in the cup, I still have no regrets bringing them home.
