The shape of the top fin, that you cant see in the pic, is the way I learned to tell invasive snake head from native bowfin. I wanna say kill it to be on the safe side, but a lot of bowfin get killed that way, unnecessarily

It’s standard. I have caught a lot of these in Fort Lauderdale. Yes, you can eat them but they’re not fantastic. You also have to consider the body of water you caught it from. Runoff, trash, parasites etc
