Betta Fish: Does my betta look bloated?

I just got him on Sunday. I’ve been monitoring him a lot since I got him and have been tested the water the day I put him in and three days after. I can’t tell if he’s bloated or if the area where his gills come out is just large. When he flared I did notice they look pretty big for a betta, or at least compared to other bettas I’ve had in the past.

The temp in his tank is 74F, and I have a sponge filter in there. There are silk plants which I eventually want to switch out with real plants.

Here are the results of the two times I’ve tested the water:

Sunday – Day 1
NO3: 0 ppm
NO2: 0 ppm
pH: 8.0–8.5
GH: 180 ppm
KH: 240 ppm

Wednesday – Day 3
NO3: 20 ppm
NO2: 0 ppm
pH: 8.0
GH: 120–180 ppm
KH: 180 ppm

Currently on Day 4. I’m new to testing water parameters but I’m trying to be a better fish parent and do all the right things. Thanks for taking the time to read this, any feedback is very appreciated 🙂
