Set this up about 2 days ago, complete beginner and am cycling it right now. Anything I should add/remove? Also, where should I get a betta from, as I’m worried about getting one from pet stores.

Definitely more live plants for your betta’s hiding spot and enrichment ☺️ and a nice hammock for the top (or a plant that reaches up with the leaf that serves as hammock).

Anything sharp, I would remove as it can tear their fins. And tannins, like catappa leaves to maintain betta health, antibacterial, and antifungal if you dont have it yet.

I got mine from PetSmart and he is thriving. I decided on that as he is my first betta and I didnt want to spend a lot of $ on an expensive one without experience first. I didnt want to support big chain stores but it’s the cheapest option for a beginner and I love my little guy.

I think the tank may be a tad bit small? I’m sure a betta could still be happy-ish in it but I believe most bettas need a minimum of 10 gallons to really thrive. I could be completely wrong though, I may have just read that for somewhere! Definitely need some more plants for hiding and places like a hammock for your betta to rest.
