Wondering if storing flies on a hat truly is better than in my pocket. Just seems dangerous. But if Henry Blake does it…

I gots me a HAT, SUN, HOT WEATHER, TYPE II, with those loops. I gave it a try, but if you have barbed or crushed barb hooks they get in there and you can’t get them out. So I just keep one in the hat because it makes me laugh.

I went through a phase where I was buying so many articulated streamers that my tiny fly box wasn’t sufficient, and so they wound up in my car, on my sling, on my hat, etc. I suspect I lost a considerable amount of flies this way because they’ll fall off without you noticing.
Side note: that’s the dumbest hat I’ve ever seen. What is the point of wearing a hat fishing if it doesn’t offer you any shielding from the sun…

I tried it when I was kid based on that exact hat. Pokes you in the head and the barbs get stuck in the hat. Bad idea.

Maybe it was a hall of fame hat. I keep my “hall of fame flies” stuck to the roof of my truck.
