Does the presence of big shad like this usually mean there's something big following them looking for a meal? I wasn't really focused on bass last night because I was mostly going after crappie and hoping for a walleye. I did get a few bass on a crankbait as bycatch while going for walleye, but I don't know if it would have been worth it to throw a bigger lure in hopes of bigger bass. While I did catch a 6lb 12oz out of this lake on a glide, that was in April on a different part of this lake that doesn't get quite as much fishing pressure. I also didn't really see any signs that there was anything eating those big shad last night. Idk I just still have a lot to learn when it comes to knowing when to throw big lures.
