Using a coarse washcloth that you use strictly for algae removal has been a nice natural way to keep the front glass algae free for me. (I let the side and back glass have a thin layer then remove since I have ungodly high nitrate water. (50-60 ppm)

It’s a nutrient or light problem. If you figure out what’s going on you won’t have algae on the glass. Sometimes it can be difficult, but it’s worth figuring out in the long run.

Spot treatment with 3% hydrogen peroxide.
1-3ml per galon, grab a syringe and blast away. Do this few hours prior to every waterchange.
Can kill snails with this but wont wipe out colony.
