A friend just gave this to me. I think he said it was sent with some others that he received. I'm aware that it's not a high end reel or anything, but I wanted to know how it compares to what I currently have which is a Cabela's White River entry level rod and reel combo. What would you suggest I put on it?

Does it hold line and not blow up into 25 pieces the first time you use it?
Probably fine for a 4-5 wt.
In my honest opinion… Reels that small are more or less there to carry your fly line.
If you’re fishing for trout the reel doesn’t really matter. Most of the time you can just strip the fish in. There’s lots of caveats and exceptions but to just fish for some trout it’s a glorified line holder/organizer.
Just fine, I catch Atlantic salmon on piscifun 50 dollar reels .
This is a very cheap ebay. There ok for a cheap reel
I never heard of that reel. Never used one. But if you like it, give er a go. At that price point and the price point of the cabela reel, they will likely be similar.
Try the drag adjustment on both
Make sure it is set up for the correct hand (change if needed and if possible). And check to see if it is noisy and if you like the noise. Other than that it is what it is.
