With the airplane, bettas are curious he will try to get in and may not be able to get out.

Put the heater in the back corner and get a nice sized amazon sword plant to mostly block it out. Get a tall plant like ludwigia for the back layer of the tank with some crypt plant on the sides of the driftwood (i love sri Lanka)
Im terrible at aquascaping so adjust accordingly, I do love plants tho!
