My friend told me this is crazy. I can’t be the only one who does this right?

I think it depends on what kind of fish you have 😅. I’ve got a bunch of nano fish. Nano fish are my thing. It would be impossible to name them all seeing as how I can’t tell my ember tetras apart 😅. I did name 2 of my otosinclus though. One is Scarface because he has a big white stripe across his head lol and the other is called Wiggly Butt 😅 because she’s very outgoing and swims with the other fish. I have 6 of them. The other 4 are just side characters 😅.

I think it’s perfectly normal to name bigger fish though that you can tell apart. Like bettas, ect. Totally normal. They’re your pets and pets deserve names 🙂

  2. Depends. If I have schooling fish, like tetra I name them as a collective (at the time, my ember tetras were the “teiflings”)

Corydoras..I name cuz I picked out some of different coloring. Currently I have Guac and Queso, and I hope to add more to the dipping sauce squad.

My betta fish is Lord Gortash! Owns the tank basically

  3. I stopped naming my fish maybe 15 yrs ago when I got a bit more serious about fish keeping. I had losses early on, and felt like bad luck to name anything. Now it’s the Cory Crew, those danios, etc.

I don’t have names for everyone, because I can’t tell everyone apart. I started with good intentions, I was going to have an Outer Banks theme because my daughter and I have been watching it together. I named my very first sailfin molly Pope and his female counterpart, Cleo. Cleo is a lyretail. I have names for the fish/ water creatures who are distinctive in either looks or personality. My bettas have names and so do my snails. I have 2 snails and they’re both named Gary, until I can come up with something better 🤣

  5. Nope completely normal, I named all 20 of my minnows despite my siblings calling it weird I knew the difference between them. Cute Goby

  6. I don’t name fish anymore with the exception of a couple of angelfish. My opinion is if you name them you get too attached and it makes it harder when they pass. One of the reasons I don’t keep bettas anymore.
