

Meet Squidward. Over the course of a month, I've noticed slight changes in his tail and his behavior. I've noticed he's become more sluggish but I thought it was due to his large tail. I also noticed his tail getting injured but it would heal, albeit, not completely. So I thought everything was fine until today. He's significantly much more sluggish. Today, he repeatedly stopped swimming during his feeding (but he still ate his whole meal) and most concerningly, his tail has become see through…
NOTE: I've added kanaplex but I'd like to know what's going on so I can address the source of the issue. 🙂
Parameters:
Tank size: 5 gal
Decor: driftwood (I made sure to file down sharp edges), 2 ceramic shrimp hides and a lot of lake weed.
Take mates: Ramshorn snails
Temperature: 75°-78°F
pH: 7.4-7.6
Ammonia: 0ppm
Nitrite: 0ppm
Nitrate: 0ppm
Diet: a mixture of frozen bloodworms, mysis shrimp and brine shrimp. (No more than 4 individual corpses/food. Fed almost every day at exactly 8pm)

Forgot to mention that this tank is almost a year old and the filter is a few years old.
not a expert but it kinda just looks like his color is changing and the pigment of the red isn’t as strong as the blue making it a bit more clear. not sure tho but it’s the only explanation i can think of

Here’s a better photo. You can see the edges have gotten a little more frayed and his red pelvis (ventral) fins have turned translucent.
