Ok so I'm new to kayak fishing. I have a used Hobie pro angler 14. Previously I had used kayaks plenty of times on the intercostals, on vacations out at sea, in Biscane Bay out of Oleata, and had a regular fishing kayak first and never had a problem with getting to and back at my launch point with no issues. My problem with the Hobie is it seems I fight the current so much!!! I thought this suppose to make fishing easy, but when ever there is current I get carried away very easily. All my other kayak experiences I never had a problem tracking and paddle to shore.
I launch from John Lloyd park next to Dania Beach, and the last two times I encountered rip currents and they carried me away pretty quick. First time I was out for like 3 hours peddle no problem and then when I went to go in, rip current happen and I had a very hard time getting back. Because of that I get nervous about going out far because I feel if I get caught past 300 yards I would be too tired to get back in, if I get caught in a current.
I see online people going out miles to catch fish in their yack. And I'm confused, do y'all not have the same problem as me getting carried away in a rip current and then getting tired? When it happens I go parallel to the beach, then dina 45 degree angle and I get back to the beach but I be 100 yards away from my launch point.
So please can ppl with experience give me insight, am I launching from a bad spot? Or am I just overthinking the rip current? And #3 is there better beaches places with less current to yack from (Key Biscayne Bay)? What do y'all do when y'all get blown off course in a yak?
I had thoughts of fishing bridges even in the keys, but this current makes me rethink all fishing yak dreams.

Like I’ve said 10,000 times on here, and people still argue with me until they are blue in the face….. Pro anglers are terrible offshore kayaks.
They are bass boats. Full stop.
Revo 13 is hobie’s most offshore capable fishing kayak
Next is the compass
Then outback and passport 12
At the bottom of the list, pro anglers
The only people who say otherwise only fish dead flat conditions or are super fan bois.
