For context- i use tippets and taper down sections instead of buying tapered leaders (i think this is more financially sustainable)

Unfortunately this sometimes creates a scenario where really thin line is my loop connecting to my fly line and cuts in. I solve this by using 30lb flourocarbon loops, but this comes with flouro having significant rigidity

Braided line typically has more abrasion resistance / better shelf life so im curious… do we think I could do this same thing with say 50 or 75lb braid (for its thickness) that is also less rigid or is the flouro the way to go for this?

  1. Nice perfection loops! Are you getting bites up by the fly line? How long are the leaders that you’re adding to this bite guard?

People use mono for butt sections because it is so stiff over fluoro, never heard of using braid for anything fly related.

I personally splurge on tapered leaders now after years of tying my own. They just turn over better than anything I can make, and I don’t get grass or anything hung up on the knots down the belly of the leader. and I can replace tippet for quite a long time before it becomes a problem.
