First time fishing Putah Creek! Decided to finally head north out of San Jose for some proper trout fishing, and the creek gods were kind. 5 landed, 4 others hooked and lost. Really beautiful area and gorgeous fish.

I’m glad to see it’s better. The last time I was there it was choked with bloom from the Napa fires.

best time of the year to fish it! Good for you having success for your first time. It’s not an easy fishery. I don’t think I’ve ever caught 4 fish there in a day. Were you nymphing?

Used to live so close to Putah when I went to school at UCD. Love that creek. I get to come back a couple times a year to visit family and always try to fish it ❤️🩹

Hey that’s one of my main stomping grounds. It is heaven on earth when you catch it at the right time. I’ve caught rainbow the size of salmon there. Unfortunately I am moving away soon and will probably get to it once a year, if that. If you’d like I can give you some good runs to fish and some advice ( I probably have 500+ days on that creek), just please promise me to keep them in the water when you catch em.
