Hey so this is my betta, named him Eddie after Venom.
He has this weird bloating since yesterday morning. I do not see any pineconing and since he was very lethargic yesterday and had no appetite whilst not showing issues swimming stable i assumed some sort of infection because all other illnesses tjaz show bloating seemed to be unreasonable with the symptoms and missing symptoms. I proceeded to dose the tank with the recommmended dosage of "sera omnipur a". Since he is doing better today already i want to do a 50% waterchange to get the strong medication out of the system to spare the other inhabitants (snails, shrimp and otocinclus). Especialy since the medication can cause the o2 content in the water to plummet.
I would like you to take a look at this and see if you think i identified the disease correctly and to hear your takes on the waterchange i am wanting to do.

  1. Edit: by “doing better” i mean the bloating seems a bit less and he is way more active, basically back to normal when im near, when im further away he still seems to rest a lot, but not right under the surface but in his usual spot again.

It could be an infection but also parasites . I would not remove the medication earlier tbh. When humans take antibiotics we have to take it even when we feel better and it’s the same with omnipur

Him not eating is a bad sign. Did he want food today?
