Aquariums: Is it safe to use an airline valve to reduce the output of an air pump
The valve is completely sealed, so I’m a bit worried about the pressure built-up by excess air / pressure trapped within the air pump and first side of the airline.

Its better to use an airpump that has the ability to reduce the airflow by voltage output. If you put a valve on a static airpump the pump could get fried because you dont squeeze the voltage.
Im sorry my English isnt that good. I am from Europe.

Its fine. Your only really worry is if water starts flowing through the line, which a check valve will protect you from.

Reduce yes. Completely block the flow? No. Bad idea

Yes, use this kit to make bleed valve, this way you don’t damage your air pump itself
