Seems like a good deal on a revered reel. But it is listed as a reel specially for “frogging deep cranking spinnerbaits” etc. I don’t really understand that. I fish a lot of 3/16 jigs with craw trailers, senkos (spinning rod for those) amongst other things. I don’t frog a lot and I have a solid setup for spinnerbaits.

I would be putting this on a light rod from old18 actually. The lure rec is 1/8-3/8. If likely put backer mono to 30lb braid on it. I don’t need my rod/reel setups to be perfect, but I do want them to work smoothly.

I don’t understand what makes this a “frogging” reel, but would I be better off purchasing a different reel or should this one work out just fine? Thanks.

  1. It’s just a mid sized baitcaster, there is nothing that makes a reel ‘good’ for frogging aside from a fast gear ratio for picking up slack line. That looks like a good deal to me

  2. It’s a great deal if you need a left handed model. The 150 has a wider deeper spool for more line capacity with heavier lines. I wouldn’t use it for light work, but thats just me

It’s a good reel I use a tatula 200 for big glides so I’m sure you’ll enjoy this reel
