Hey there! My boyfriend recently got into fishing and is wanting some gear. He has only been pier fishing but wants to also get into surf fishing. Is this a good combo to buy for him? He mentioned wanting either the Tsunami Seatech Surf Rod or the Daiwa emblem pro surf rod – 10’, medium-heavy and he mentioned wanting either the Daiwa Exceler LT Spinning Reel -5000 or the Daiwa Laguna LT Spinning Reel – 5000. I would prefer to stay under $150 and I don't know if the Tsunami Rod would work well with one of the Daiwa spinning reels? I was looking at alternatives and found this but does it match the ones he recommended? Please help a girl out. I am so clueless!

Looks good to me. I would suggest waiting until black friday. A website called tackle warehouse is pretty good about their deals. Avoid cabelas or bass pro, they over charge on everything.
Those are my workhorse reels and rod. I’ve caught 46″ drum on those.
