I got the Fluval Flex 2.0 15g for my future betta and want to set it up this weekend. Which orientation works better? Vertical adds height and more room for plants, but is slightly unstable so I’ll have to anchor plus it’ll probably stick an inch out of the water and is very close to touching the lid. I like the cave look of the horizontal but will have less plant room and a hide might crowd the bottom. Would appreciate some opinions. I really want to get it right.

I much prefer it standing up. You can always just use glue (superglue gel) to stick it down to the bottom, and it also looks like a tree underwater. I do think moss would be a great idea to put on it, as it would go nicely with the sort of tree look 🙂

I quite like the second one! While the first one does make it look more like a tree I love all the little branches that would go into the substrate, kinda leaving room for more plant layout around the bases of the branches if that makes sense. It’s a little bit similar to what I have and I honestly find it super cool seeing my fish weave through the branches hehe

  3. I just woke up and thought these were pictures of a dead tree someone dragged into an elevator 😭

Contrary to what everyone else is saying, I think it looks better on its side. If you get moss to put on it, you could make it into a little mossy cave hide for the fish

If you choose to have it standing up, you could make a little platform to glue or tie to the top for the betta to rest near the surface, like a diy betta hammock
