Betta Fish: Anyone else get a little emotional?

Age old story, walking the aisles of large box pet store to grab replacement filters – tried not to make eye contact with the betta shelf and inevitably had my heart torn in half by the most curious (but near death) almost white baby. First picture is the second day, last picture is most recently after 3 weeks. What a glow up little guy 🥲 (hes fat because he thinks hes a Cory and bottom feeds, he now gets held in a mesh breeder while the rest of the clean up crew eats and I suction any left overs)
