I use these when fishing for leopard sharks. I typically hook the clip straight to my pyramid or Sputnik weights. I am considering whether or not I should tie a short leader between the clip and weight but might be overthinking that bit.
My real question is with the T shape hook at the top. It is my understanding that this is to hook your bait at the end of your leader to it, so that it is easier to cast with out having so much length to whip around. How does this technique work? How should I attach the bait to it, and how will it release itself once it has settled on the seabed?
