Hey everybody!

I’m new to fly fishing and with the holidays coming up I’ve been looking at getting myself a pack for fly fishing. I’ve gone out a handful of times but I am still new to fly fishing. Last year my parents got me a rod and a backpack for all the stuff but I’m not a huge fan of a giant backpack when I only need something small. I’ve been seeing a lot of people recommending sling packs and hip/chest packs but I’m not sure what kind/ brand would be good. Any recommendations would be great! So far these are what I’ve looked at

  1. Training-One-6584 on

I have tried vests, sling packs, chest packs, and lumbar packs…I landed on the Fishpond switchback pro, and I like it by far the most of everything I have tried.

I use a fishpond chest pack that I can then integrate with a fishpond backpack for bigger days. I like the chest pack as everything I need is in my workspace. Tried a sling pack and I hated moving it around to the front when I needed to access it, ditto with a lumbar pack. That said, seems like a ton of people love sling packs.

  3. It’s going to be entirely personal preference. I like a fanny pack so I can put everything behind me when I don’t need it. Slide the pack around to front for change outs. Gives more room for the belly when I bend over too.
