I haven't really ice fished since the mid 90s. I remember my dad and his buddies had these but I can't seem to find much info on them or when you would use them. Wondering if anyone here has an idea.

  1. Looks like a homemade jig pole, with a really nice stand that shows you when you have a bite. My great grandfather made a few out of old 2x4s in the rough shape of a duck. You spool the line around the notches on either of the long ends.

  2. We use these religiously for targeting whitefish on Lake Simcoe. Spreader at the end of it with 3 minnows. The way you should have the tip up set up is when the fish picks it up it takes all the weight off it and falls forward, indicating there’s a fish on the other end. Hope that kinda helps lol
