My betta has been swollen on one side for a month now and I don't know what to do. I've tried fasting, increasing tannins (organic rooibos teabags), and a week long course of pimafix in case it was bacterial. He's still active and has a good appetite but nothing is helping the swelling. So far no popcorning but it feels like only a matter of time…

He's in a 36L tank with a filter and a heater set to 26°c. Plenty of plants but also a consistent green algae problem if that could be relevant.

I do a 25% water change every week with seachem prime, I usually use seachem flourish a couple times a month but haven't since the swelling started.

I feed 2-3 Hikari Betta Bio Gold pellets twice a day, once a week he gets bloodworms for dinner and is fasted the next morning.

I want to try an epsom bath but it's a bit daunting as I've never done anything like that before and am scared to hurt him.

Any advice is welcome, he's only 2 years old and I desperately want to help him.
