A few days ago I asked for advice on good English names for what Norwegians know as "laksegiljer" or "laksevarp". The responses were nothing short of spectacular, with some honest, good translations, and my personal favorite, the "salmon siege towers" by u/pastyoureyesed.

To repay that effort a little, I thought I could share some older pictures from the University of Bergen library and some schematics from a master's thesis by Ågot Gammersvik. These explain some of the fishing techniques a little better than I could do in writing.
