I've been going out on my buddies boat and decided to get my own rods.All my previous fishing, I've always used other peoples equipment. We're in SWFL, bottom fishing anywhere from 5-60 miles out.
We've been fishing mostly Yellowtail, Lane Snapper, Red grouper, porgies, grunts, jacks, got lucky with a hogfish.
The plan is to use the Battle 4000 with a 30 lb braid and lead to catch most of the snapper and smaller stuff.
The Spinfisher 5500 will be used with a 40lb braid, and 30 lb lead (can switch to 40lb lead) to mostly try to fight the groupers and hopefully move up to some other bigger fish too.
Thoughts? Recommendations? Got both combos from a local store where they were priced $159 and $199 respectively.
