Hey I am looking to see if there is a better setup for trout fishing. Inland streams and rivers, often wading up through heavy brush, so a 9 foot steelhead set up is not necessary. I am using an ugly stick 5 foot six inch ultra light with the reel that came with it ( but the reel is getting replaced before next spring) and 6 lb mono with no leader. I know there has to be a better setup. What are you guys using? Primarily looking for reel and line advice because I like the pole but will take any good advice. Here is a trout picture for fun

I like 6lb braid and a 4lb leader, the rod looks fine but for the reel a shimano Sahara 1000 is what I use. If going for slightly bigger rivers I would use a 6’ UL rod. For creeks what you have is perfect.
