I've been fishing for a few years, primarily with the very basic Ugly Stik GX2 6 foot combo I got back in 2017 or so. I have a few other rods & reels, but nothing special (two wal-mart specials, one I've had forever and one I bought on vacation after realizing 2 hours into a 10 hour drive I packed my tackle and only my tackle).
For reference: central Indiana. Primarily bank fishing for large mouth.
I decided that I'm going to do a rod/reel upgrade. Looking at a few different brands but I'm going for a 6'6" rod (single piece, medium, fast action). Nothing I've been looking at is on sale today, so no rush on the rod side of things.
However, I'm a little less sure on what reels to go for. I was leaning towards this Shimano, since this came up a lot and was recommended by a few friends. I was checking through some black friday deals and came across a couple things that caught my eye.
The Daiwa Regal is on sale, and would be about $20-$30 cheaper than the Shimano I was leaning towards. Conversely, the Abu Garcia Zata is normally more than the Shimano I was looking at, but Black Friday knocks about $100 off and puts it in line with the Shimano.
I know cost doesn't always equal better quality. I guess the long and short of it is of the three, since cost is (currently) relatively the same, is there any reason to go with either the Daiwa or the Abu Garcia over the Shimano?

Can’t speak for the other 2 but I have a Sedona and love it.
