Is this a bad setup for shore bass fishing north Texas lake Roberts? Water temps around 65-66. Been shore fishing about 5 times and haven’t caught anything. Usually try a Texas rig but also haven’t caught anything on that either.

  1. When setting up plastics on rigs I find it easiest to line the plastic lure up with the hook and find which segment naturally lines up with where the hook begins to curve up.

The plastic shouldnt be angled like that at the back of the lure, it should just run in line the straight part of the hook and be kinda limp behind the hook to allow for the intended action. Second the use of crawlers on these kind of rigs tho and you can also experiment with taking a little off the front of the plastic lure to change how much of the plastic is expose behind the skirt.

Sorry for the terrible drawing but hope it clears up my explanation a little😭

  2. Curly tail worms do work on jags but you’re not really paying to the strength of either the jig or the plastic at that point.

If you’re going to do it, you wanna thread the worm on a little better, someone else has provided a picture that basically shows the better way to do it. He might also want to take a little length off so that it’s mostly just the tail sticking out past the skirt.
