I have a long finned male betta inside a 2.5g cube tank and I want to upgrade his tank size soon, but seeing as all he does is laying at the bottom most of the time I don't know if upgrading to an even bigger tank (10g tank) will be good to him. He's healthy and the water parameters are all good.
What's your experience with long finned male bettas? He has plants he can lay on top of the leaves if he wanted to, but instead he likes to feel the vibration of the sponge filter
I have this driftwood coming soon (assuming it isn't lost). It will fit on both the 5.5 gallon tank and the 10 gallon tank.
Any help is greatly appreciated.

10g all the way
bigger is always better
I kept longfins in 25-35g without issues. Having enough plants to fill it oit nicely at all levels is what matters the most though!
10gal, just make sure there are plenty of places to rest near the surface
10 gal 100%
10 gal as long as its heavily planted, too much open space can stress them out, and make sure the filter isn’t too strong or they’ll have trouble reaching the surface to breathe
10g, also easier to find lids and lights
5 absolut minimum (If you can even say that), 10 ideal (lots of plants to plant so they stay happy and have places to rest)
Bigger is always better 🤷♀️ imo, a 20 long is the perfect size for a betta. They are very active fish!
