Haven’t yet fly fished (getting my first setup soon), but found a fly box @ a thrift store with these in it. Any identification, information, advice is super super appreciated i can’t wait to start!

Since nobody else has commented I will do my best to identify (top left to right):

    1.dry fly, maybe a greenwell’s glory?
    2.nymph, looks poorly tied proportionally
    3.wet fly
    4. Wet fly: I think it’s a royal coachman
    5. Dry fly: a gnat variant, probably some kind of fancy griffiths
6.looks like some sort of emerger, it is essentially a half wet half dry fly that floats low in the water
    7. Nymph: Pheasant tail nymph
    8. Honestly can’t tell but I’m betting it’s a wet fly.
    9. streamer fly: (a very)WOOLY BUGGER

Regardless of the names, you have a decent variety of flies here, all suited for larger fish. If you’re going after easily spooked fish or small ones you will probably wanna go smaller. These are also all clearly tied by a novice and aren’t of the best quality, but they will certainly catch fish. A good buy for your first box.

Look up the difference between fishing streamers, dry flies, nymphs, and swinging wet flies. Tom Rosenbauer has some great free videos through orvis on YouTube.
