What’s this?

  1. Hey there. This is likely a local issue like a cyst/tumor, blister, or a small fungal/epistylis patch on damaged skin. First step is to check water parameters and do a good partial water change, because any growth like this is often linked to irritation plus high organics. If the spot looks fuzzy or cottony and slowly spreading, you can treat in a separate tank with a gentle anti‑fungal/anti‑bacterial med that’s safe for scaleless fish, but if it stays smooth, firm, and the fish is otherwise acting normal, it may just be a benign growth that you watch rather than treat (i’m not a vet, so take all this with a grain of salt. Only a fish vet could say for sure). Avoid heavy salt doses with plecos, since they’re more sensitive than many fish, and focus on excellent water quality and observation.
