What’s a fish you feel is underrated/underappreciated?
I personally love catching larger saltwater catfish, and as well as large stingrays. Two of my favorite fish to catch from shore here in FL!

Bluefish and false albacore. Fantastic fighters, great table fare.

I’ll agree w/ you on the gafftop/sailcats. They fight hard and are good eating.

Definitely Musky. I caught a few decent sized pike on my medium setup and I caught a 20″ musky and it took me 15 mins to bring it in and it pulled me and my kayak the whole time. The Pikes and musky were caught while targeting smallmouth so I was not prepared with he right gear

Goldeye when they are hitting top water is very fun

Gasper gou/Freshwater Drum
If you kill, bleed, and then ice them properly the meat is firm and flakey and is great when heavily spiced. Its one of the few fish I actually like to eat.
I only eat the ones from 2-10lbs, the big ones can get mushy.
