A lot of places I fish and would like to fish don’t have such easy access. Dragging a sled to get to these places is a chore or just not possible and adding deep snow makes it even worse.
I think I travel pretty light compared to most. I don’t bring a ton of stuff out on the ice but I still bring more than I need. I’m going to cut it down even more with this pack. I should only have to carry a bait bucket and my auger in my hands and everything else goes in or on the pack.
I got the 24″ pack with the optional liner, shoulder pads and bag. It even has a “lighted liner” feature that I wasn’t aware of. Yes it’s just the world’s cheapest flashlight hanging from a carabiner. The little bag has a ton of different compartments in and out so it should be sufficient.
There will still be a place for the sled occasionally but I’m looking forward to traveling light and easier access to the water now.
