I live in north Texas and am in the process of purchasing my first set of wading boots and waders. I’ve been eyeing the korker salt sneakers and southerly saltwater wading boots.
I will be mostly wet wading with neoprene socks while kayak fishing. Only occasionally will I truly need waders. That time is now though with the trout being released at the Brazos and for winter crappie fishing.
Is it a mistake to buy a set similar to these that I can fit waders in? Or should I go with a more traditional wader boot?

Depends on your needs. I wade in rough rocky waters so I want protection for my feet and ankle support. Hence wading boots. But when I am in a toon I wear sandals instead because my feet are seldom on the bottom.
Those neoprene socks aren’t much thinner than wader booties. I wear the same pair of Korkers Terror Ridge boots with my waders, a pair of Sealskinz waterproof socks, and Simms wet wading socks. They fit fine in every case and the ankle support is huge.
I just want to point out you posted two sets of saltwater wading boots, which usually are very different than what I would want in a trout stream. Admittedly I’m on the east coast and unfamiliar with the wading conditions in Texas but you might want to consider your use cases.
