Ive had my tank for about a year now (I got my fish in September of last year) and I want to stock it a lot more but I don’t know what to add, I know there isn’t a lot in my tank but I haven’t gotten the chance to buy any plants. The plants I have now are Anubis (I don’t know which variant), Amazonian sword, and Java fern along with some floating plants (frog bit I think). I want to add more decoration to my tank as well. Any suggestions help I want to make my tank prettier along being a more suitable tank for my betta. I also have 3 nerite sails I got a week ago.

Do you know how big your tank is because mostly that depends what you can add with your betta and do you know the gender and if it is a calm type
Get more plants, and then even more plants. If you think you got enough, get a few more or propagate them.
I can recommend limnophila sessiliflora as it’s super easy fast growing and my betta girl loves to snuggle in it. Also it grows in natural betta habitat and so easy to propagate. Just cut it in half and plant the cutting.
More floating plants! And Catappa leaves. The rest looks fine to me. Maybe put the root into the middle as center piece, with stones next or behind and attach some hygrophila pinnatifida or more anubias to the root. The large plants should go into the back of the tank.
I suggest shrimp (neocardina or amano), but if you do get them, get more plants for hiding. Some bettas are super chill with them, some attack and/or eat them, and some fall in the middle (mine chases shrimp sometimes but has only ever eaten a neocardina in the year that he’s live with them). Shrimp are pretty much all you can safely (ish) do because it is not a good idea to put more fish in after he’s already lived in there, he would likely get territorial. People who do community tanks with male bettas have more success stocking other species first because it is less risky. If you do plan on getting shrimp, maybe just start with a few (I think most people recommend 6 neocardinas, and I did 2 amanos) and if they seem okay then you can feel better adding others. you will definitely want to plant your tank more in order to give the shrimp the best chances though- I’m sure there are lots of good examples of adequately planted tanks on this sub and r/shrimptank . There are pictures of my two (very different) tanks a little further down in my profile as well, both have a very healthy shrimp population.
