Hey guys every time I cast I feel a hitch mid cast and I just know that my line knotted. Can someone point me in the right direction?

These are wind knots, and they’re a huge pain in the ass but unfortunately pretty common with braid.
When you cast, make sure you close the bail by hand, and make sure there’s tension on the line when you start reeling. If the line lay is loose, these little loops can form deep in your spool and very quickly get tangled in the rest of your line as you reel in.

Away from the wind.

Cut that crap off below the knot and try again is my professional advice lol. You’re doing something wrong or the reel is overspooled but without watching you cast or seeing the reel idk.

Is your spool overfilled? Did you have enough tension when filling your spool?
Are you reeling up slack line? Reeling in slack line can sometimes cause the braid to bite into itself and mess with your casts. Also casting into the wind could cause wind knots

I hate braid. I am forced to switch to the Palomar knot because the clinch and improved clinch is no good with braided line. I fish shallow clear water for smallmouth. I catch less because they see the line. Yeah i can use a mono leader but why not use all mono?
