Aquariums: Is my fish doomed to have a busted eye forever

I have here a pink tail chalceus. When I had gotten him back in July, the employee (whom you can tell doesn’t really want to work there) dropped him twice while trying to net him. The falls messed his eye up and in the most recent picture it looks like it’s even shrinking in its socket. Obviously he’s doing fine and has gotten a lot bigger since I got him just wondering if the eye will always be like this since it’s been 5 months since then. I’d like to mention in the latest picture, his tail doesn’t seem so red but that’s just because of the lighting. It’s deep red normally
