First of all, I don’t do ice fishing, so my knowledge regarding fish locations during the winter is weak. So, locally, winters became warmer and warmer with every year. Like, it’s +5 degrees by Celsius, right now. No snow, no ice, basically it still looks and feels like a late autumn. Uhm, except short daylight hours, it’s already completely dark at 4PM. 🌚

And, as always – there’s no peace for the wicked angler. Decided to check out my local city honey holes for some Zander (note: I’ve caught hundreds of them there. For an example, two weeks ago same spot gave me 13 fish in 1,5hrs…). But, this time I’ve spent 4 hours wandering around the bank of the river, going down into the adjacent channel, checked appendicitis, pits, rises, dumps, basically everything and didn’t got even a tiny bite or even something that felt like a fish. 💁‍♂️ With complete confidence I can say that it wasn’t technique-lure-gear issue, I do understand cold water fish behaviour, as well required slow-pace drop-shotting angling, and yeah… I gave a go for different lures, sizes and UV/non UV material… still didn’t got a single bite. 😶‍🌫️
.
Any peeps here, who can give some genuine advice regarding Zander locations & behaviour in these abnormal weather conditions!?

Like, two weeks ago they were feeding like crazy… I thought “okay, feeding is over, they went into the channel in search of wintering pits.” But, they were empty. 🫠

P.S. adding some screens with local depth map, to make this post more convenient and easier to analyse. Depths are in Meters.
