Our betta is in a 10g currently and he seems happy already. It had been cycled for a few months and he just arrived this week. He’s already exploring the entire thing which is making me feel like he would utilize more space. Also makes me sad 5 is the minimum should def be 10.
My question is which would be more suitable for him, a 20 long or a 29? Or do I go all out an give him a 40 breeder🤣 what’s your favorite size to keep them in happily?

Bigger is always better! They like long tanks though, especially long tailed bettas, since they need to reach the surface easily
If you get anything bigger than 20g you can consider adding a few female Bettas, as they can help channel his hormones and make him generally less stressed, it must be a big tank tho, at least like 25g for one female only with lots of hiding space. If you go with a 40g you can easily add 3 females or more :).
Bettas are surprisingly chill if kept in the right environment.
