hello! i got this teeny tiny tank as a hand me down from my family. they used it as a hospital tank for a hermit crab once.

based off my measurements, its 2.5 gal. i obviously wouldnt put anything in it long term, but is it big enough to use as a hospital tank for a betta in case i ever need it? thanks!

I would say, yes, but I would wait for others to respond, other than that, I think you take some substrate out, I think you have too much

Yeah! It seems like a good hospital tank, but I’d recommend some silk plants to keep him happy in it even while sick. I don’t know how live plants would fare in a tank that’s barely used, lol.

Big enough for a betta absolutely but substrate isn’t recommended for a hospital tank because it can hold bacteria plus if you have a sick fish it’s easier to monitor what there waste looks like or if they have worms! Just a rec though as long as you’re monitoring it should be okay

  4. I find a 5 gallon easier for a hospital tank just for dosing medicines. Ive used a 2.5 gallon for a hospital tank with ease though just for the simple fact I was doing daily water changes (sometimes 2x depending the illness and treatment) but I personally wouldn’t be comfortable going longer than a week in that size for treatment. Also, for a hospital tank, I found barebottom tanks to be better. I just have a few floating rests and silicone tank redecor that are easy to sanitize that are strictly for the hospital tank and a sponge filter and small heater.

  5. Absolutely big enough, you just have to be careful with medication dosing since most doses go off either 5 or 10 gallons. Personally I would put less substrate, if any at all, as its easier to monitor and sand holds a lot of bacteria, which could harm your sick baby
