i'm worried my betta is a little too thin. he currently is eating fluval bug bite flakes.
he has a decent appetite but it seems like he just takes a few bites and seems to be full.

  1. Hey! Yes he looks a bit skinny to me (last pic). I would try to offer him a variety of foods.

I feed my lil guy with Northfin in the morning and Betta Bug Bites in the evening – I give him 4 to 5 pellets each time. Once a week I give him approx 2cm of frozen blood worms (thawed of course) instead of a pellet meal. I also fast him once a week from time to time but not necessarily every week. I have a plakat in a 12G tank though so he’s very active (must burn more energy than a long fined one), start on the small portion size and adjust if necessary, try to pay attention to his belly, it shows fast if you’re overdoing it – good luck!

He is a little bit skinny but I personally do not recommend over feeding for them to gain weight! My boy Darwin is a little bit skinnier than I would like but I still fast him one day a week in order to ensure that he does not get build up in his system! Betta fish can be gluttons and it is very easy to overfeed them when you find their favorite food!
