We just got a nerite snail for our tank of 5 glow tetras about 2 weeks ago. We’ve had the tetras for several months and have never had any health issues with them; we vacuum the gravel and do a partial water change roughly every 2 weeks (or as needed) and all of our fish and plants seem to be doing well and are happy. We got this snail from a local aquarium store 2 weeks ago and it’s super active and moves all over the tank when it’s awake.

Today I noticed these little stringy things on its side while it’s sleeping. They almost look like little chicken feet or stars. Is this poop, parasites, or detritus worms? Will this harm our tetras?

Sorry for the low quality pictures, my phone is kind of old and doesn’t have the best camera

Take the snail carefully out so as not to dislodge them. Kinda looks like some kind of larve. Was probably on its shell when you got it. You should take it out anyway incase they go into your tank. Just a wee bit water. There will be something to kill them with but without knowing what they are is difficult. Have you tried on r/aquaticsnails
