Hello, I'm new to surf / saltwater fishing and just got my first rod/reel. A spinfisher V 3500 with a 10' Okuma Rockaway SP M+ power MF action (1/2-3oz) and was wondering what rig, bait, or lure it would pair to my 1st ever saltwater setup?
I'll mostly be surf fishing in Santa Cruz or Monterey, California.
First, I'm planning to target surfperch, then later move on to halibut and striper.
Was thinking 3/4-1.5oz Carolina Rigs on 30lb braid/15fl with 2" Camo Sandworms or ZMan Crusteaz in motor oil?
Would this setup also be able to comfortably throw jerkbaits such as the Battlestar 115, Lucky Craft Flash Minnow 110, or Calissa 110?
Would you change the reel or rod?
What would I have to change if I wanted to the rod or reel for striped bass or halibut?
