Hey guys,

Quick question – am I just being picky here or could this actually mess with casting? Picked up a new spinning rod and it looks solid overall, but 3 of the 9 guides are a little off. They’re only out by maybe 5–6 degrees, but you can see it.

From the tip they line up fine with each other, so no problem there. Just don’t remember noticing this on any of my other rods.

What do you reckon – is this nothing to worry about or try to get a replacement?

  1. Yeah nothing to worry about in terms of real world performance. It’s just cosmetic and super common. If it bugs you heaps I’d recommend you get into rod building. It’s a great hobby and with a bit of practice you can make your own rods to perfection (and fix these sorts of cosmetic issues). That’s what I do personally!
