Seriously though, i started striper fishing earlier this year and want to catch a keeper so bad. Have caught plenty or 10”-12” stripers but nothing worthy of bringing home

  1. I’ll ignore your little red tipped friend there. Generally you’d be surprised, but big baits don’t always equal big fish. Which could be your problem here. Try fishing choke points with calmer waters instead of the surf (like inlets) and use smaller lures like 3 inch paddletails, or one of my favorites, the YoZuri monstershot (the 3-1/8 inch size). It’s small but it weighs a full ounce, so you can really sling it. I’ve caught my biggest stripers on my smallest lures. I know a lot of people will hate this because I’m mentioning NLBN, but I caught my pb on a white 3 inch NLBN paddletail.
