Betta Fish: Male or female?

Hi all! This is my new friend/rescue! (See post titled "Wow. Just wow." To see transformation.)

Fish was labeled as a female crown tail, but not sure if thats true of not. Some people were saying male on the transformation post, but I wanted to make a post especially for asking this question. Not disrespect/disregard to those saying male on the other post, just wanted to make a post asking this specific question. Mainly to know if a name change is required lol​
