can someone help me as to why my betta fish seems depressed and just lethargic. My tank is 40L ( a bit more than 10 gal ), i test my water with the API master testing kit and there is no issues with the water, there are plenty of plants, there is a filter and also a heater. i did try get him a friend a while ago but he tried to kill it so i took it out and rehomed it. he is literally always hiding now and just never really swimming about, im not sure what to do i just want him to be happy 😩. there also is some shrimp in there and he doesn’t seem bothered by them and he will occasionally watch them. also when i got him he was overweight im not sure if this affects anything, ive had him for 7 months now.( its hard to get a picture of him as he is always hiding☹️)

  1. What are you doing in terms of interacting with him/where is his tank? My girl is very curious and interactive and I have her tank set up in a place where she can see pretty much the entire house and gets to see my roommates all the time. It could be that he’s just mentally understimulated and craving a visual difference. If you’re not able to move his tank, playing freshwater fish tank ambience videos for him will probably help! (my girl likes those a lot too and sometimes tries to chase the little fish!)
