I was given a 5g fluval chi that I have set up for about 2 months now as a shrimp tank. I know it is recommended for rimless tanks to have a leveling mat, but I am not sure if this one will need one, or if it will be harmful, because it has this base? Picture from the listing to show the base.

Short answer no you don’t need one. I had that exact aquarium. Having said that, it doesn’t hurt to have one for aesthetics
