I googled this before I did it, so I’m sure it would be helpful to other fish keepers!

I use a brute 44 gal to hold my RO water as it goes through the filter. I prefilled 5 gal buckets and measured out each 5 gallons as I poured it in here. If you want to mark your own 44 gal bin, here are the measurements!

Measured from the inside of the bin, yardstick placed on the outer rim (not the raised center)

5 gallons (4 3/8ths inches)
10 gallons (8 inches)
15 gallons (11 3/4ths inches)
20 gallons (15 1/2 inches)
25 gallons (18 5/8 inches)
30 gallons (22 3/8 inches) – this lines up with the inner rim where the handles are
35 gallons (25 1/4 inches)
40 gallons (28 1/4 inches)
44 gallons – flush with the top rim
